Another Nebraskan Visits...

Another friend from Nebraska visited this weekend! Hooray! :)

We met for brunch at Cafeteria - great prices (for NYC), great variety and my friend has had celeb sitings there in the past. Not today though. :( The restaurant was also used in some SITC episodes, too.

Then it was off to see Pygmalion - the play that inspired "My Fair Lady" and is currently better known for Claire Danes Broadway debut.

Due to the fact that we had just eaten and sucked in the fresh fall air, once we got settled our lids were a little heavy. And the play's staging can be stale at times not helping heavy lids. That is not to say the acting was bad - it was well done and enjoyable. Not sure if the show's extended conversations and lack of movement was to be blamed on script or direction or both. I did expect a bit more from the production and maybe Claire Danes did too as she looked less than thrilled at curtain call.

My friend and I discussed the promotional photograph of Claire for the show. We don't get it. It really doesn't tie to the show - it just showcases Danes. Not to mention the fact that her hair is blond in the photo and there is no blond on her head in the show. But I digress...

Before meeting up with friends for a late supper we decided to stop for a snack at Europan. Yum! I'd walked by it several times but never went in. A good stop for dessert - a bit expensive dessert - but still a good stop. ;)

On to Vento - an Italian Restaurant with reasonable prices (not just for NYC) and tasty food! And bonus that Vento was across the street from Soho House - an exclusive rooftop club that was the focus of an SITC episode. Our group sat outside and as we were waiting for our food a street peddler came by and plopped 2 roses on the table wanting $5 each for them (he told us he bought them for $3). He was given a couple dollars and the roses were returned - of course, not without protest. But he did leave and our waitress gave us bite size dessert treats on the house as an apology for that incident. I highly recommend this place for good service and the previously mentioned price and taste. Will just maybe sit inside next time!
